In India, every four hours, a woman dies from a dowry related death. Is anyone doing anything about it? Yes…

January 20, 2012 : In technology news, a brilliant way to raise awareness about the dowry system “Angry Brides”!!!
What is Angry Brides? It’s a game. A rather interesting one at that, in which users have to try and hit three dodging grooms using a variety of weapons - a stiletto, frying pan, broomstick, tomato or a loafer! The grooms come with a price tag and every time they are hit, an amount is deducted from their price and added to an ‘anti dowry fund’…!!! Hahaha…!!! Sounds fun!
Since its launch last week, the game has had more than 270,000 people who liked it including men!
We all know that in a country like India, the dowry system is still a burning issue. And always will remain… Hope this opens the eyes of those who condone this tradition.
Oh by the way, the Angry Brides caption was my favorite part of the whole thing: "A woman will give you strength, care and all the love you need ... NOT dowry!"
The name of the app, available on the group's home page (www.facebook.com/shaadicom), is a spinoff from the globally popular "Angry Birds" game. Its home page shows a red-clad, eight-armed woman resembling a powerful female Hindu goddess.
